Jane Frances Francois Chism, of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Friday morning, November 23, 2012 at the
age of80. She was hom on October 6, 1932 to Ernest and Eloise Francois in. New Orleans, the third of five children; Jane was raised in Slidell, LA and
educated at St. Tammany High School. She married twice and was
blessed with six beautiful daughters. Jane treasured family. She was a devoted wife, supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
On top of that, Jane even cared for many children in the Slidell area. She always made you feel welcome with a warm smile, delicious food
and quick wit. Everyone would agree, Jane was a good cook. Family and friends often requested her famous potato and chicken salads. And of course, everyone loved her delicious pecan pralines. Jane was an active member ofMount Olive AME Church as a Stewardess and volunteer cook in their feeding ministry. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, crabbing and gardening. Jane also loved reading and watching her favorite soap operas. She was a devoted fan of "The Amazing Race." Jane loved traveling and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Momma will be missed most for her compassionate gentle spirit and
comedic stance that her girls know all so well. We always said, "she missed her calling."
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Francois; mother, Eloise Francois; sisters, Yvonne Francois and Joyce Y. Narcisse;
brother, Stanley Francois, Sr. and one son-in-law, Christian A. Givens.
Jane leaves six daughters to treasure her memory, D.ianna Vaultz,
Slidell ; Pamela Clinton, Dallas, TX; Sonia Robinson (Michael) Tampa, FL; Belinda Chism, New Orleans; Janell Chism, Lithonia, GA; and Antoinette Givens, Slidell; one brother Larry G. Francois (Francisca), San Ysidro, CA; an extra special niece Denise Narcisse-Cizek, Slidell; four grandchildren Anditrus Chism, Jordan Smith, Simone Robinson and Christian Givens; two great-grand children Nehemiah Chism, and Maurice Chism; two God children Dilana Miller and Gretchen Sylve; four aunts Isabell Torregano, Eleanor Carriere, Delores Charbonet, Lillian Navarre; one uncle Wilbert Navarre and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
