Sister Mary Chaney was born August 8, 1905 in Newton County, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lee and Sa lema Dorsey. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1924 and was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Alfonia Chaney.
She joined Little Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Hudley, where she was a faithful member prior to her illness. She served on the usher board and the mother's board.
She leaves sweet memories to her daughter, Mrs. W. Lois Davenport; son, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Glass (Liz); two granddaughters, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sheffield (Sallie), and Ms. Deborah Davenport; grandson, Mr. Kenneth Davenport; eight great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips (Sis), and Mrs. Mary Chaney; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
When Day Is Done
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles. When day is done. I'd like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the wa_vs Of happy times, and laughing times And bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before the sun Of happy memories /leave behind When day is done.
