Mrs. Catherine Chambers was born May 1, 1925 to the late Will Davenport and Carrie Lee Davenport Hubbard.
On December 27, 1997 Catherine gently fell into eternal sleep. She attended grammar school and high school in Troup County. At an early age she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she met her loving husband the late Virdie Wesley Chambers. She joined Laster Chapel United Church. In 1984, she retired from Delta Airlines where she was employed for fifteen years. GOD blessed her and Virdie with a daughter in 1966. In 1984 another blessing was bestowed upon them with a grandson whom they both loved so much. She was a very outgoing person and a fighter who never gave up easily. Throughout her illness she always found a way to keep a smile on her face. Catherine leaves to carry on her memory a daughter, Dwanna D. Dill Thomas; a loving and devoted grandson, Virdie Ja'Rode Dill; a sister, Jessie Dill; a brother, C. H. Davenport; her god-children, Phillip Banks, Sr., Terri Banks, Pat Wilson, Regina Anderson, Michael Williams and M. A. Phillips; two special friends, Lynett Kendricks and Bill Davis; three sister-in-laws, Marion Davenport, Minnie Davenport and Pauline Chambers; aunt, Lucy Kate Talley; the Franklin Family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I'm Free
Don 't grieve for me, for now I'm free I 'm following the path God laidfor me. I took his hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work andplay. Tasks left undone must stay that way 1 found my place at the close ofday.
Ifmy parting has left you void,
Then fill it with rememberingjoy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times ofsorrow I wish you the sunshine oftomorrow. My life 's been full, I've savored much, Goodfriends, good times. a loved one 's touch. Perhaps to you my time seemed brief Don 't lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now. "He set me free. "
