When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do,
You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears, But be thankful we had so many good years. I gave you my love, and you can only guess How much you've given me in happiness. I thank you for the love that you have shown, But now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust That it is only for a while that we must part, So treasure the memories within your heart. I won't be far away for life goes on. And if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All my love around you soft and clear And then, when you come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home."

Betty was born November 27, 1941 to Scott and Dorothy Hamlet in Roanoke, Virginia. Betty enjoyed this life with two brothers, Scott and Leon and two sisters, Patricia and Charlyne.
She was married to Bennie Chambers. This union was blessed with five children, Jerry, Anthony, Christopher, Victoria and Regina.
Betty knew early in life that a career in law enforcement was the right path for her. After moving to Jackson, Michigan she found employment at Jackson State Prison, as a correction officer. We know from her career choice that she was a strong woman with impeccable morals who believed in truth and justice. Working in one of the largest penal systems in the country, she was amongst the first black females to be hired at that facility, which broke ground for hundreds of women following that path.
She was a trailblazer in every sense of the word. That trail eventually led her to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued her career path as a correction officer for the City of Atlanta. She was also a Court Bailiff.
Betty continued her trail blazing on October 4, 2014, when she moved into the final phase of her journey. Preceding her on this journey were her parents, Scott and Dorothy Hamlet, her sister Charlyne (Petie) Williams as well as many other family members that are now welcoming her home with open arms.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, Bennie Chambers; her three sons, Jerry Thomas Berry, Anthony Marcus Berry and Christopher Scott Berry (Natalie); two daughters, Victoria Thomas and Regina Daniels (Dwight); her brothers, Scott "Blue Boy" (Brenda) Hamlet and Leon Hamlet; her sister, Patricia Ann Lowery; nine grandchildren, Qiana, Eimani, Milan, Caprice, Rocquel, Marcus, Asha, Madisen, Kya and Shawndria; one great granddaughter, Eva; special friends, Elton and Bev Scott, Miyoshi Morris, Lois Coppage, Miss Shirley, Doris Westbrook, Joanne Hood, Miss Beulah Thomas and Sarah Scruggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, co-workers and many other special friends.

"This life, endless in its nature, has now become, as indeed it should, freed from the trammels ofa mortal body, subject to sickness, pain, infirmity, and every human limitation-set free
to live out its endlessness, its deathlessness, in the joyous felicity ofeternal joy.
why weep over such a change ofsphere, such a blessed promotion. "
