The almighty God in His wise way removed from this life, the soul of Edna Carter on Thursday, September 4th, 1992 at Care Inn of Voorhees after a long illness.
She was born in Darlington County, South Carolina, on August 8th, 1921, the daughter of the late lucius Mayes and the late Cora Johnson Mayes. Edna attended the Darlington County Public School System.
She was baptized at an early age in the New Hopewell Baptist Church in Darlington, SC.
Edna was employed as a domestic worker for several families. She worked for Campbell Soup Company, Camden, NJ.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are: one sister, louise Thomas of Scarsdale, NY; one brother, Willie Mayes of lindenwold, NJ; three nieces, Sandra Wade of Hamden, CT, Betty Graham of Berlin, NJ, and Susan Peterson of Branford, CT; three nephews, Wilson Kirven, Jr. of Hamden, CT, larry Kirven of U.S. Army, Aberdeen, MD, and Willie Mayes, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; one brotherin-law, Wilson Kirven of Berlin, NJ and one step-sister, lillian Stead of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her.
