Edith Carter was born on December 24, 1923 to the late Frank and Maude Grimes in Maxey, Georgia. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia at an early age. She became a member of Israel Baptist Church later in life after accepting Christ as her Savior.
For most of her life she was a loyal and devoted employee at Cagle Company where she acquired many friends.
She departed this life on March 1, 1998 after an extended illness and leaves to cherish her memory, a companion, Arthur Smith (Lightning); three sisters, Ossie Gresham, Mattie Bell, and Cora Calloway; one brother-in-law, Lamar Calloway; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

I may not know death should come To take the dear ones from my home, But tho' mine eyes with tears be dim The Lord knows why - I'll trust in Him.
