"Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are
many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And ifI
go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;

Alonza Leroy Carter was born April22, 1916 in Danville, Virginia. He closed his eyes for his final rest in the early afternoon of June 18, 2014 while working in his backyard garden. Alonza, the son of Alphonso Lee and Mary Lou Carter, was the second of two children. His elder sister, Alberta, and his younger sister, Sara Esther, both preceded him in death. In childhood due to unfortunate circumstances during birthing, his mother and sister-to-be were lost. He was raised by his father resulting in a single parent childhood.
Upon reaching the age of fifteen years old, Alonza drove his Model T Ford to Harlem, ew York and made it his residence. While supporting himself and making choices in life, he JOined the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is where he met the love of his life, Gertrude Alice Saunders, and swept her off her feet. Alonza and Gertrude enteteo Holy Matrimony September 14, 1946. True to their vows, they shared the next 64 glorious years toget}ler. On November 8, 2010 their :shared love was interrupted when God called Gertrude to rest. This union yielded three sons and one daughter; Alonza, Jr. resting in the Lord, Beverly, Ronald, and Mic~e
