Affectionately known as "Babe" by his children, was born a twin on October 20, 1959 to the late Willie Albert and Martha A. Carroll in Atlanta, Georgia. He made his transition to eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Jerome was educated in the Atlanta and Dekalb County School Systems. Upon graduation, he made a career in construction. He progressed through the ranks to the role of Foreman of Brassfield & Gorrie General Contractors in Meridian, Mississippi.
As an adult, he accepted Christ into his life at Israel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Doctor William Smith. He enjoyed life and loved spending time with family and friends. Chubby could often be found at the nearest barbeque surrounded by kids. To the guys, he was known as "Ruff" and to the ladies, he was "Chubby Love."
He was preceded in death by one son, TreShaun J. Carroll; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Albert Carroll; twin brother, Tyrone Carroll; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bell, Sr.; sister-in-law, Deitra Carroll; and long time companion, Regina Matthews.
Jerome "Chubby" leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Elsa Naomi Carroll and son, Jelani Daniel Carroll (Chantal); two brothers, Anthony Carroll, Michael Kendrick and sister-in-law, Gwen Carroll; six wonderful grandsons, Darious, Ta'Veon, Ta'Kai, Ta'Corey, Phoenix and Ty'Ryce; two nieces, Ayana and Amber; five nephews, Antwan, DeAngelo, Samaria, Awan, and Victor; five uncles, Archie Bell, Jr. (Renia),
Bobby Bell, Nathaniel Bell (Miriam), Marvin Bell and Michael Bell; three aunts, Mary Webster, Gayle Bell and Sylvia Bell-Thomas; one great-aunt, Cora Calloway; one great-uncle, Lonnie Brooks; Carnisha Matthews, daughter of Regina Matthews; and a host of family and friends.
