OBITUARY
Eddie Bernard Campbell was born to the union of Eddie Lee and Sylvia Sue Dukes Campbell on November 25, 1973. He answered the Lord's call home on April 26, 2015.
Bernard's educational career started at Florence Jackson Academy. Always rambunctious, inquisitive and surrounded by friends, he went on to graduate from D. M. Therrell High School in 1991. Following graduation, he attended Morris Brown College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and enrolled at Emory University's Candler School of Theology. His love for history prompted him to pursue a Master's degree at the University of Houston. His aspirations changed and he returned to Atlanta where he worked for doctors at Emory University School of Medicine, Grady Memorial Hospital, and St. Joseph's Hospital. While working in the Emory System, Bernard's growing commitment to learning, service, community and faith guided him to earn his Master's of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center. Most recently, our life-long learner was pursuing a certificate in Executive Leadership at Chicago's McCormick Theological Seminary.
In the midst of all of life's experiences, Bernard has been an energetic and glowing member of our Christian community. As a young person he participated in the Central United Methodist Church Youth Choir and the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. After receiving his Master's Degree, Bernard was active in ministry at Central United Methodist Church serving as Business Manager since 2003. He was a local pastor in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, appointed to the Rome Carrollton District, serving two churches: Bethel United Methodist Church in Tallapoosa, GA and Crawford Chapel United Methodist Church in Bremen, GA. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Bernard was an avid reader and collected books with a wide range of subject matter; he loved new things and was always looking for a way to better himself. He had an affinity for music, art, and culture from the Harlem Renaissance era. Bernard's infectious smile, warm disposition, and unwavering views reached people far and wide. He built a family of individuals united by genuine love and respect. No one was a stranger and he didn't see color. Always listening, never judging
