Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair,
Perhaps you sent some flowers,
ifso, we saw them there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say,
Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought ofus that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much, whatever the p art.

Tell me not mournful number, life is but an empty dream
And the soul is dead that slumbers and things are not what they seem.
Life is real, Life is earnest and the grave is not its goal.
Dust thou art, to dust returnest was not spoken ofthe soul.
Not enjoyment and nor sorrow is our destined end or way.
But to act that each tomorrow finds us further than today.
Lives ofgreat men all remind us we can make our lives sublime.
And departing leaves behind us, footprints on the sands oftime.
Footprints that perhaps another, Sailing o'er lives solumn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother Seeing may take heart again.
So let us then be up and doing, with a heart for any fate.
Still achieving, still pursuing, learn to labor and to wait.
