Postlude
Dear Patsy Ruth, To my lovely wife of 50 years, who would have thought that a
chance meeting during our Annual Band and Glee Club Concert between Nichols High School Biloxi, MS and Thirty-Third High School would spark a 56-year romance. I remember like yesterday, building up the courage to offer to assist you in carrying your saxophone down the stairwell, and that very day built the foundation for our family.
Patsy after accepting my hand and heart in marriage, you became a very supportive and caring military wife and mother. You became the backbone to not only me, but our children and the families in our communities in which we traveled. During the more than 20 years of my active duty career, we traveled extensively throughout Europe-Germany, Holland, France, and Italy. I reminisce on the many stateside assignments in which we traveled from coast to coast with the kids in tow. You always provided me clarity of mind to accept greater demanding assignments, because as the wonderful mother you were, I never had to worry about you, the boys, or our extended family.
So, when that evening came to bid you farewell , I realized a part of me also had ceased. Patsy, you have been with me for over half a century! For God to let a man be so lucky and blessed with a companion of your love, grace, and beauty, is simple astounding. No matter the situation, the place, or the event, you supported and loved our sons, grandchildren, family and me with the highest degree of dignity and respect. You will always be my better half, as you cared for me during the best and worst of times, and for that I am eternally fulfilled and grateful!!!
Until we meet again, please know that I will forever love you. Love Always, Percy
Success
By Bessie Anderson Stanley (Paraphrased)
She has achieved success. Who has lived well,
laughed often, and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of pure women,
the respect of intelligent men and, the love of little children;
who has filled her niche and accomplished her task; who has left the world better than she found it whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;
who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best she had; whose life was an inspiration; whose me1nory a benediction.

Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain, Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name. The precious word is ' MOTHER', she was my world you see, But now my heart is breaking cause she's no longer here with me. God chose her for His angel to watch me from above, To guide me and advise me and know that I'm still loved. The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through, God had better plans for her, for this, I surely knew. When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years, My memories surround me and I can't hold back the tears. She truly was my best friend, someone I could confide in, She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin. I want to thank you Mother for teaching me so well, And though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell. I'll remember all you' ve taught me and make you proud you'll see. Thank you my Dear Mother for all the love you showed me. Although you' ve left this earth and now you've taken flight, I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night.

In my Rose Garden of memories I see you standing there An angel in disguise
Who taught me how to care I long to hear your voice for real not in my dreams
I am missing you so much these days how empty my world seems
People say time heals all wounds that someday the pain will subside
But Grandma I can tell you I think they must have lied The emptiness I am feeling now
is strong and I am weak These days go by without you
so dreary and so bleak In my Rose Garden of memories
I know you'll always be for though you're gone from this mortal world In my heart you'll always be.

Because you cared, you came to share, beautiful flowers and words of prayer. Because you cared enough to do words of comfort on cards that came too Because you cared, we were not alone, calls and visits reached our homes. Because you cared, we're able to bear the grief and sorrow For today and tomorrow. Because you cared, we're praying too, For God' s richest blessings for each of you. The Butler Family
