Ceceile Pamelia Bent was born to I<enneth and Edna Bent on October 29, 1942 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies. Ceceile affectionately known as "Pam" was the oldest of eight children. Pam was raised in Jamaica by her beloved "Aunt Pat", and attended high school at Covenant of Mercy Academy, Alpha and later, graduated from I<ingston Public Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the late 1960's. Upon graduating, Pam migrated to the United States. She settled in New York to fulfill a great need for registered nurses in the state at that time. Upon her arrival in New York, Pam successfully achieved her licensure in the State of New York as a Registered Nurse through Fordham University located in the Bronx, New York. Shortly thereafter, Pam began her flrst job as a registered nurse in the ER and Burn Units at Queens General Hospital located in Queens, New York.
During her time at Queens General, Pam fell in love and later, married Edward Robert Burrus on February 1, 1973. Eddie and Pam welcomed the birth of the flrst of two children, Olivia Roberta Burrus on October 30, 1975, and later, Christine Simone Burrus on June 15, 1978. Following the birth of their fust child, Pam and Eddie purchased their marital home and relocated to Roosevelt Long Island, New York. Pam then began working simultaneously during the days at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center, New York and nights at Lydia E. Hall Hospital in Freeport, New York as a nursing superv1sor.
In 1983, Pam went to work as the head nursing supervisor at A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home in Uniondale, New York, where she retired from in February, 2004.

While employed at Holy Patterson, Pam trained new nurses and prided herself on providing the highest level of care to her patients, and never missing a day of work. Pam was well-known and respected by her colleagues and hospital staff and commonly revered as, "one of the best nurses ever". Towards the end of her service to Nassau County, Pam could rarely go anywhere in Long Island without recognizing her.
Pam loved being a mother and grandmother. Her whole world was centered around raising her family and helping them fulfill their dreams. In her spare time, Pam enjoyed walking, bowling, and was also an avid reader of Harlequin Romance novels. At one point her romance book collection was greater than 1,000. Pam was a born problem solver and a natural caregiver. One of her greatest qualities was her ability to help anyone who crossed her path without judgment or condition. Her home was always open to anyone in need, and she honestly enjoyed being there for other people. Her kind nature, energetic personality, and witty sense of humor will surely be missed by her loved ones, yet never forgotten. Her loss will create an irreplaceable void in the lives of her family and friends.
Ceceile Pam Burrus returned to the Lord's side at 3:09 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. She was survived by her husband, Edward Burrus; two daughters, Olivia Marshall and Christine Johnson; three grandchildren, Jamali Simpson, I<ori-Olivia Josey and Rodney Mills; two sisters, Joan McDonald and Christine Meyers; sons -in-law, Brian Jack and Aundrey Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
