Beufus Bunkley was born December 23, 1945, in Talbotton, Georgia, to proud parents, Susie Bunkley and James Henry Riley. He was raised by his grandmother, Susie Garman-Bunkley. Beufus departed this earthly life on May 25, 2014. His father, mother, brother (Dock King) and son (Warren Bunkley) all preceded him in death.
Beufus received his education in the Talbot County School System. He attended Ruth Carter High School and graduated in 1965. He also attended the Atlanta Area Technical School. At an early age, he joined Shady Grove Baptist Church in Talbotton. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, he united with Mount Ephraim Baptist Church, where Reverend R. L. White served as Pastor. In 2005, he joined The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. E. Dewey Smith, Jr.
On July 6, 1999, he married his best friend, the love of his life, and his prayer partner, Starla Blossomgame. Beufus loved his family and friends. He and Starla always entertained on the July 4th holiday and on Christmas morning where they served breakfast. Everyone came just for his mouthwatering biscuits on Christmas day.
A hard working man, Beufus was a Mason under the Smooth Ashley Grand Lodge. He worked as a cab driver and for Southern Railway during his early years in Atlanta. He later worked for General Motors until his retirement following 32 years of service to the company.
Beufus loved horses. Riding horses was his passion. He was a member of the Atlanta Posse Riding Club and served as President. Beufus' compassion for others was enormous. He was always there to help in any way he could, whether it was by repairing someone's vehicle, doing home repairs, or transporting horses.

My Dear Baby,
I knew this time would surely come, but I never wanted to imagine when. I have not lost you for I know you are with God, but the thought of you not being here with me just hurts my soul so deep within.
Beufus, you will forever be loved and will never be forgotten. You knew that in life I loved you dearly and in death I will do the same. I've always known you were a strong man and these last months you broke every record to name. God and you let everyone know who was in charge of your life. The doctors said "no" several times, but God said "Yes, let me show you."
Your fight for life made me so proud to be a part of you. So much strength God placed in you. It broke my heart when you left me, but I know you had to go. Your journey here on earth was finally complete. Now in Heaven, you will soar.
Beufus, one thing I know is that when you left, you didn't go alone; for part of me went with you as God called you home. As these tears roll down my face, I can also smile. You left me peaceful memories, ones that will forever replay in my mind. Your unconditional love will forever be my guide. And although I can no longer see or touch you, I know you are always by my side.
You were my best friend, the love of my life, my prayer partner, and my soul mate.

Our lives hold the balance of sunshine and rain. Brightness and sadness, some pleasures and pain. There are often thorns with the loveliest of flowers, but then there are rainbows to follow dark showers. So let's keep our faith that though nights are long, there will always be mornings with blue skies and songs.
Love you and will miss you. Your sister-in-law, Joyce

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We knew we could count on you from the very start.
You have come through like no other. You joined the rank of sisters and brothers.
For all the flowers that smell so sweet, For all the food and nutritious treats, The calls you made were a great choice, It was so comforting to hear your voice. The prayers that ascended to God above Depicted the genuineness of your love. The cards you sent meant so much The works were inspired by the Master's touch. When Jesus comes, the clouds will burst. The sleeping in Christ will rise fttst. Our dear loved one we'll see again. Together with Jesus we'll eternally reign.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I am following the path God laid, for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seems all too brief, Don't' lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up our hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.

There are times when mere words are not enough to express one's sentiments and gratitude. One of the most precious times in this world is for someone to have caring and giving friends. You have given us so much. What you've done is so gratifying to us and so gratefully appreciated. Not only do we thank you for your kind gestures, but also for the spirit in which you executed them. You have brightened our eyes with the greater understanding that God knows best and have enriched our hearts with compassion and the courage to go on.
