The Chain
We knew little that morning
~hat God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
That day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as God call us one by one The chain will link again.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word oftruth. " II Timothy 2:15
Ms. Rosa Lee Brown was bom June 3, 1934 in Hartsvil le, South Carolina a daughter of the late James and Viola Johnson Perkins. She attended the public schools of Darlington County. South Carolina. She met and married the love of her life, the late Willie Brown. They lived a great life together until his death.
Ms. Brown moved to New York and lived there for many years. She was a hard and dedicated worker. ~ .he worked as a housekeeper. She later retumed back home and began working for 60 Minute Cleaners until her retirement.
"Gal," as she was affectionately known to many loved the Lord . It was th is love that led her to join Secon :i Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a member of the Nursing Ministry and t1e Prayer Band. She was a faithful member until her health failed. She entered Medford Nursing Home. "Gal" was always known as "The Bible Lady," because she read her Bible faithfully every day . The nursing home staff would always greet her as "Th ~ Bible Lady."
"Gal," was one of the most loving and sharing persons that you could ever meet. She never met a strang;r. She always had a smile on her face and a word of encouragement in her mouth. She loved to cook for everyone and she loved flowers. Those who knew her and loved her will miss her dearly, but we know to be absent from the body is to be presen with the Lord. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Mr. ' Nillie Brown; and her brother, Sylvester Perkins.
Surviving to cherish ' he memory and maintain the legacy of Ms. Rosa Lee "Gal" Brown is her god dau~ hter, Emma Murphy of Hartsville, SC; two loving sis- ters, Thelma Wright of West aven, CT and Mildred Simpkins of Hartsville, SC; a brother. Nathaniel (Betty) Perkins of Columbia, SC; her nursing home family and friends, and a host of nieces, nt!phews, close relatives, and very dear friends.
