Betty Jean Crowley Brown departed this life and entered into the presence of Jesus on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was the third of six children born to Robert Lee and Nollie Beatrice Broadnax Crowley, on October 19, 1935, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Due to the death of her parents at an early age, she and her siblings were reared by her loving Aunt Lallie Broadnax. Betty gained her sense of family values, faith and unyielding strength from Aunt Lallie. She was educated in the DeKalb County School System.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Calvin Brown Sr. for fifty -thiee years. To this union they were blessed with six loving children.
Betty Jean Crowley accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age at the Bethsadia Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She later joined her husband Deacon Calvin Brown at New Chapel Baptist Church in Scottdale, Georgia and served faithfully on the Mother Board.
She began her professional employment with the Scripta, Inc., and the Safeco Insurance Company. After her retirement, she worked intermittently with various occupations and church activities. However, her most devoted work was that of a loving housewife and mother.
Hospitality was one of Betty's greatest gifts; she loved to cook and to have folks sit at her table r for a good old- fashion southern meal. She enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Lula Woolfork; son, Calvin Brown Jr.; and one granddaughter, Markisha Brown. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: one son, Terry Lee Brown; four daughters, Deborah Qohn) Grant, Wanda Brown, Pamela (Moses) Gruduah, and Daryll (Earl) Smith; fourteen grandchildren, Thaddeus Grant, Chandra (Michael) Barnes, Torrey Grant, Marcus Watson, Ramika (O'Neal) Archibald, Chanteasia (Michael) Smith, Calvin Brown III, Raina Brown, Earl Smith Jr., Devon Brown, Aab Gruduah, Ean Gruduah and Keah Gruduah; fifteen greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Elease Anderson, Barbara Crowley, Annie Crowley and Rosa Crowley; three brothers, Robert (Dora) Crowley Jr., James Ellis and Charles Ellis; and a host of other devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Loving Tribute- Family Values Keah Alyssa Gruduah
Grand Parents' Day- September 19, 2011
My grandmother's name is Betty Jean Brown. She has taught me about family values. She had six children. She has many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters. She comes from an ample family and she loves and cares for them dearly. My grandmother's children are all grown up and have had children of their own. During their upbringing my grandmother sacrificed for them to go to school, for food, and whatever else they needed or sometimes wanted. Four of the six children are girls. My grandmother worked hard doing all of their hair and she did it nicely. My mom still does my hair and that takes about an hour and a half Imagine doing four little girls hair-- that probably took avery long time.
My grandmother also had two boys, one is deceased. Upon his death, my grandmother took in his two children
and lovingly reared Ramika and Calvin as her own. My grandmother is truly a loving caring person.
To this day my grandmother continues to spread her gift of love and care for family and friends.
She is very helpful to my family as well. When my parents are at work, my grandmother would
pick us up from school, and we always feed us There are-many little and big things my grandmother did for others, I'm sure she will get something in return. Family values are agreat lesson to learn
and I hope I can become like my grandmother some day.
