The Victorious Life
In tears, we saw you sinking, our hearts were nearly broken, When you fought so hard to stay.
But, when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain,
we couldn't wish you back to suffer again.
It's lonely here without you, And sad in every way,
For life will never be the same for us, Since you've been called away.
It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone,
For a part of us went with you, The day you left for home.

Deacon Leonard E... Broadus was born on December 6, 1910 in Monti-
cello, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Luke and Mrs. Essie
Broadus. He obtained his education in the Bibb County Public Schools
and graduated from Hudson High School. He later matriculated to Georgia Baptist College.

On April 26, 1936, he united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Carrie Watkins Broadus for sixty-five years.

He retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company in December 1975 after forty-six years of service. He held positions of foreman, supervisor and bookkeeper. He was a member of Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Central City
Lodge No. 12 for fifty-two years and a member of MASAB Temple # 11.
One of his greatest love's was his church. He united with Ne\v Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1925 and was a golden member. He was ordained as a deacon in 1936, serving as Church Clerk, Chairman of the Deacon's for 20 years, Chairman of Trustees, Chairman of Finance for 42 years and Chairperson Emeritus of Finance for 12 years. He also was active in Church School, Bible Study, Senior Usher, and advisor of the Senior Choir.

Deacon Broadus departed this life early Thursday morning, September

26, 2002 after an extended illness.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: two nephews, Mr. Roland
Broadus (Shirley), Detroit, Michigan and Mr. John Wiley Manson, Jr. (Lucille), Moreno Valley, California; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Bessie W. Stevenson, Macon and Mrs. Anna Watkins, Irwinton, GA; a devoted cousin and caregiver, Mrs. Mary Bloodsaw, Macon a host of niece~, other nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
And a Time to Die.
