Obituary
Mr. Will Henry Brightwell was born July 10, 1916 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to the Late Andrew and Ruby Brightwell. He was quiet mannered but could humor you for hours with stories and anedotes about his work, family and experiences. He loved his family and was a good provider.
Those who knew him called him "Buddy Man". He enjoyed
fishing and had an affection for mechanical engineering (Autos, Fishing Gear, Lawn Mowers etc.). He was a good thinker and could literally answer any question from many perspectives; From Bible Scripture, His Many Experiences or His Political Wit. Amazingly, he could do this at the right moment without hesitation. It has been said that the unique thing about his character was rarely did anyone ever hear him complain. Those who knew him would often hear him say, "I thank the good Lord for letting me stay here this long!"
He married Eddie Lue Gresham on December 31, 1940 and was married for more than sixty years. From this union seven boys and two girls were born. He worked for the Georgia Railroad for 39 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oglethorpe County. After relocating to this area, he and his family joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, under the pastorage of Reverend J. S. Stafford.
He departed this life on September 24, 2001 in Dekalb County, Georgia. He leaves to mourn: His devoted and loving wife, Eddie Lue, Children: Annie Lois (Murray), Guy (Rosa), Will Andrew (Annie), James (Mildred), L. M. (Veronica), Frank (The Late Angulette), Eddie (Christine), Mary (William), and Gary (Michelle); Twenty Seven Grand Children and Fifteen Great Grand Children and a host of relatives and friends.
