Mrs. Eddie Lue Brightwell was born July 4, 1920 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to the late Ora and Eddie Gresham. She married Will Henry Brightwell on December 31, 1940 and was married more than sixty years! From this union seven boys and two girls were born. A member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Stephens, Georgia until 1949 when she and her family moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J. S. Stafford.
An outstanding cook, a strong-willed and non-nonsense mother, Eddie Lue Brightwell loved her husband and all her children and especially enjoyed making delicious pineapple and chocolate cakes. Mrs. Brightwell was well known for preparing Sumptuous Sunday Dinner of six or more courses including delectable, homemade cakes, pies, sweet iced tea and her ever-famous "Red" Kool-aid.
Eddie Lue Brightwell lived a full, wonderful life of over Ninety-One years. She departed this life December 19, 2011 in Lithonia, Georgia. She leaves to cherish her memory her nine children, Annie Lois (Murray), Guy (Rosa), Will (Annie), James (Mildred), L.M. (Leola), Frank (Robin), Eddie (Christine), Mary and Gary (Michelle), Twenty Nine (29) Grandchildren, Thirty Eight (38) Great Grandchildren, Five (5) Great Great Grandchildren and a host of other Relatives and Friends.
