Obituary
Beyond Life's Gateway
There is an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone and there is a light we cannot see, our Father claims his own. Beyond this gate our loved one finds happiness, peace, and rest. There is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best.
Thara Marshall Bradley was born October 24, 1949 in Brewton, Alabama to the late Mr. Charlie Bradley, Sr. and Mrs. Fannie L. Bradley. He was the youngest of three sons born to this union.
As a small child, he was adamantly escorted by his parents to the Second Saint John Baptist Church in Springhill. There he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
Thara attended and received his high school education from Southern Normal School, Brewton, Alabama. He was a member of the graduating class of 1967. He continued his education at Alabama State University for approximately three years. Thara entered the United States Army in 1971 where he served his country with distinction. As a member of the I 01 st Airborne Division, he received a certificate for serving in Vietnam, the citation Army Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal for exceptional service and later received an honorable discharge on December 1, 1974.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted mother, Fannie L. Bradley, Brewton, AL; one son: Travis Bradley (Stacey), Pensacola, Florida; one daughter: Danielle Bradley and her mother (Diane Bradley), Brewton, AL; one brother: Charlie Bradley, Jr. (Margaret), Brewton, AL; one nephew: Charles T. Bradley, Hollis, New York; two nieces: Patricia Bradley, Los Angeles, CA, and Kwane M. Bradley, Brewton, AL; seven aunts: Barna Williams, Gulfport, Ms, Luverne Murphy, Detroit, MI, Jannie Avant, Brewton, AL; Romaine Benjamin, Brewton, AL; Mattie Maddix, Detroit, MI, and Allie Snowden, Brewton, AL; one uncle: Lem Bradley, Fort Lauderdale, FL; a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
An Endearing Memory... Declining Thoughts
by Chad Bradley
(Deceased son, 1992)
Some days I feel like a mountain, Proud, mighty, and majestic, An inconquerable presence causing awe, Towering above everyone, unmatched in existence.
Some days I feel like a rock, Hard and unbudging, Unfeeling and cold to all in contact, With little or no use to anyone.
Some days I feel like a pebble, Tossed about by people walking by, Made to be skipped across life's lake, Only to eventually settle to the bottom with others.
Some days I feel like a grain of sand, Viewed as a most insignificant speck, Ground by the pressures during the day, Smaller and diminished, but equally important.
