Eddie Darrell Boyce, Jr., age 51, died peacefully in his sleep on April 28, 2014, in San Jose, CA.
Eddie was born on November 25, 1962, in Pensacola, FL to Mary Brown and Eddie Boyce, Sr. Eddie grew up in Pensacola, Florida where he attended Olive Elementary and \"'<ledgewood Middle School. He attended and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church, where he gave his life to Christ. He moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia with his mother in 1979, where he attended and graduated from Bayside High School in 1980. After high school, Eddie joined the Air Force for a brief time and decided to pursue a Degree at Norfolk State University. He attended Norfolk State for two years .
Eddie was affluent in the way he dressed and carried himself. He liked to be well dressed no matter where he was going. He got it honest - the love of being well maintained goes back a long ways in his family. Eddie was a mama's boy. He always wanted to be around his mother and when he could not, he called or wrote to her frequently. Nlother remembers when he was a baby, he would cry, if she left him for a minute. Our fondest memory of Eddie as a child was of him balling up in his hands the soft Sunbeam white bread and eating it. Eddie could eat a whole loaf of that bread. So, he got the nickname "Light Bread." \V'hen Eddie heard an 'Ole School' song, he would in an off key snap of his Engers and tone say, "Aaaaah! That's my song." We all would laugh and say "boy! you have no rhythm." When Eddie moved to California, he would call or write and ask about everyone in our family. He wanted full details, because he sincerely cared about how the family was doing. On special occasions like his birthday, he would call and tell you exactly what he wanted (in that matter of fact voice) and it definitely had to be opulent. And, because we loved Eddiehe would get just what he requested.
Later in life we could see and hear a rebirth of spiritual change in Eddie. His words and deeds gave way to a spiritual reawakening of his soul. He encouraged and prayed for us to be a better family and to love one another
more. He would always say, (Tn the Name ifjesus Chn".!'t ifNazareth." He under-
stood there is Power in the Name of Jesus and through the grace and mercy of Jesus change could come.
