William Ethard Bitt, Sr. -vvas born on March 26, 1953, to the late Leotis and Hunter I. Birt in Atlanta Georgia. He departed this life on July 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Birt.
At an early age he joined Rising Star Baptist Church. Later he moved his membership to Grace Covenant Baptist Church and later joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.
William attended the Atlanta Public Schools System. He attended Walker Street Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School; where he enjoyed playing football and running track. He furthered his education at Morehouse College.
He worked for the Postal Service, 'vvhere he retired in 2007 after thirty-six years -vvhere he touched many lives. Our father, brother, uncle was a very loving, caring, devoted and respectful child of God.
Mr. William E. Bitt Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: sons, William E. Bitt, Jr. and J elani Bitt; daughter, Wendy Whitehurt; four grandchildren, Priscilla (Michael Jr.), Godfrey, Gloria, and Michael; t\-vo great-grandchildren, Amiylah and Micheal III; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie B. Johnson, Ms. Gwendolyn Bitt, and Mrs. Cynthia (fheadarict) Watkins; one sister-in-law, Linda Bitt-Lotz; five
nieces, Cheris (Charles) Sims, Shaquandra Watkins, Chara Ooseph)
Reese, Chasity Ashley, and Bianca (Aundra) Williams; one nephew, Calvin (Malva) Ashley; seven great-nieces, Shanterria, Dominic, J ackee, Nadia, Jasmin, Dominion, and Shakira; four great-nephe\vs, Charles Jr., David, Nakai, and Nakari: one greatgreat niece, Brooke and a host of relatives and friends.
