Ms. Ruth Benton, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Benton (Mildred) was born March 11, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ruth was educated in East Point Elementary and graduated from South Fulton High School. She joined Neriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.N. Martin at an early age where she served faithfully as a member. She later moved her membership to Grant Chapel A. M. E. Church under Rev. S. L. Booker until her health failed her. Ruth was employed at the Atlanta Journal Constitution for many years. She was a great mother and friend to all who knew her and was always willing to help anyone. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons. She left a lasting impression on the lives of those she came in contact with. She will be sorely missed.
Ruth departed this life May 8, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Benton (Mildred); brothers, Wilbur James and Solomon Benton. She is survived by: a devoted and loving son, Corey D. Benton; one aunt, Daisy Hall; two nephews, one niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.
"I'm Free"
Don 't grieve for me, for now I'mfree. I'm following the path God has laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all, I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day, If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss Be not burdened with times ofsorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life 's been full I' ve savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don 't lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now He Set Me Free.
