Funeral services will be on Friday March 18 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 928 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30310, presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Timothy Gadziala; church phone number 404-758-8861.
Viewing of the body will be all day Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the funeral home, and from 9:00am to commencement of service on Friday, March 18, 2011.
Interment after the Funeral Mass will be at Kennedy Memorial Gardens, 2500 River Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294.

Mr. Francis Okon Bassey, AKA "Bassey Ubong", a long time resident of Atlanta, Georgia, died on March 02 2011, at the age of 57. He was the victim of smoke inhalation from an accidental fire that burned down his house. Francis was the youngest child and son of the late Chief Paul Bassey Okon, installed indigenous head of Etoi Clan of Ibibio land of Nigeria, and Most Honored Madam Patricia Okon Bassey of Calabar, Nigeria. Francis was born December 20,1953 at the time of his father's coronation as Chief of Etoi Clan, presided over by the Late Cardinal Ekanem of West Africa. Hence, he automatically earned the princely title of "Bassey Ubong".
Francis completed his high school education at the Regina Celli Catholic secondary school at Abak, Nigeria. He then moved to the United States in 1974. He attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He did his graduate work at Atlanta University where he earned a Masters degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. His post secondary work history includes several years as plant engineer for Cannon Mills of Salisbury, North Carolina, and couple of years as computer engineer I software technician at Morehouse Medical College in Atlanta , Georgia. Otherwise, Francis was basically an entrepreneur pursuing his inventive and cherished ideas in business
