James Edward Barnett, affectionately known as "Ted" and "Rat", was born in Rockingham County on April 23, 1903 to the late Peter and Polly Brown Barnett. Death came to him suddenly at his home on Friday morning, April 7, 1978.
He was a retired employee of Neal Lewis Construction Company.
He was a member and Elder of Little Salem Christian Church and treasurer of its Building Fund. Also, he was a member of the Sandy Level Masonic Lodge No. 274.
His immediate survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Eliza Millner Barnett of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Johnson of Reidsville and Mrs. Gracie Barnes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother, Robert Barnett of Reidsville; many other relatives and friends.
