The Charles F. Barnes, the youngest ofthree children, born to Alfred F. Barnes, Sr. and Lenora Hicks in Williamson, Georgia on February 12, 1922. He attended and joined Free Liberty Methodist Church in Pike County, Georgia at a early age, and there, he also attended school. Charles ' search for learning didn 't end there. He continuously attended schools throughout Georgia. Brother Barnes started working on at Southern Railroad at the age of13. He was also a World War II Navy Veteran.
He was united in holy matrimony to Lucille Dewberry (who preceded him in death on May 22, 1964). To this union, four children were born, Mary L., Charles, Jr., Geraldine and Bernard Barnes.
After the death ofhis first wife, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Verso/a Johnson who also preceded him in death Februaryfo 1985. Answering a call from God during the early 1970's, Reverend Charles Barnes was called into the ministry and became afaithful, useful messenger ofGod.
He leaves to mourn his passing, four children, Mary L. Channel (George/deceased), Charles Barnes, Jr. (Brenda), Geraldine Gissentanner (Clifton) and Bernard Barnes (Evelyn), along with one sister, Frances B. Huff, one brother, Alfred Barnes, Jr. (Minneapolis), eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one niece, Barbara Williams (Minneapolis), one nephew, Scott Dewberry (Detroit) and a host ofother relatives andfriends.
We loved him, yes We loved him.
But he was gently called to yonder shining shore. A gentle voice said, ((Come " He calmly entered home. Sleep on, dear, (( Tis God who thought it best
To take you from this world ofsorrow To a lovely place to rest. Safe in the arms ofJesus;
Angels guard thy sleeping clay; We are looking forward
To see you resurrection day.
