Rudolph "Uncle Rudy" Barner, Sr. the son of the late Deacon Alvin Barner, Sr. and the late Mattie Carter Barner was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 11, 1935. He departed this life on November 30, 2006. Four brothers preceded him in death.
He received his education from Atlanta Public Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1955. He retired from General Motors (Lakewood Plant) after 25 years of service. After retirement, he served as a bus driver for the Fresh Start Academy in Northwest Atlanta. After a lengthy illness he retired. The children adored him. Most of his friends loved him for his delectable macaroni salad; it was his specialty.
In passing, he leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Rudolph (Linda) Barner, Jr.; two devoted sisters, Mrs. Barbara Jackson and Ms. Debra Barner; two devoted brothers-in-law, Mr. Frank Jackson and Mr. Gabriel Hoskins, Jr.; four special nephews, Tommie "Tee" Barner, Jr., Ricky Wilcox, Sr., Leon Wilcox, Sr. and DeCarlo Hoskins, Sr.; one special niece, Mashawn Barner; a special cousin, Mary Ann Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other nieces, other nephews, other cousins, family and friends.
"The Last Request"
When you draw a picture ofme. Don't draw me as a saint. I've done some good, I've done some wrong
So use all your paint. Not just the bright and light tones Use some gray and dark. In fact, don't put me down on canvas
Paint me in your heart. Don't just remember the good times But remember some bad. For life is full of many things Some happy and some sad. But if you must do something
Then I have one last request. Forgive me of the wrongs I've done And with the love that's left. Thank God for my soul's resting
Thank God for I've been blessed. Thank God for all who loved me Praise God who loved my best.
