MRS. BARKSDALE was born in Lincolnton, Ga., the youngest of three children, all now deceased. Her early years were spent in Elberton until she married Sandie Barksdale, now deceased and they moved to Chicago in 1920.
Her formal education was received in the Chicago Schools and in 1940 she was ordained and Licensed to preach the gospel. She headed 1'The U-:1ionChurch of God" until her health began to fail. Mrs. Barksdale was well Learned and well versed and atuned to the times. Countless politicians of great distinction enjoyed her counsel and friendship as well as members of the clergy of all faiths. She was a scholar and an eloquent speaker. Her Life was built on doing for others and always exemplified a ChristLike spirit. Even though she never bore any children, she was a 'mother' to many who remember her as such. D1e to failing health and Loss of sight, she became less active as a member of Hopeful Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Leverette.
Her Last participating services were at Holy Reform Church of God in Christ, under the pastorate of Elder C. A. Thomas. Mother will be missed by all who knew her.
