Annie Jewel Banks 67, of Atlanta, Georgia, was born on September 18, 1947 to the late Susie Mae Hosely and Emmett Louis Hosely, Sr. She departed her life on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Atlanta Medical Center South Campus.
Jewel, as she was known to most, attended Fairmont High School in Griffin, Georgia. She continued her studies in Early Childhood Development at Atlanta Area Tech. She also completed the IBM Computer Program known as "Writing to Read" for Atlanta Public School System where she was a Paraprofessional until her retirement September 30, 2014. She was a strong advocate for all children.
She was a member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church.
Family and friends were Jewel's passion and delight. She also enjoyed crafts and anything that allowed her to be creative.
Jewel is survived by her husband of 45 years, Warren Banks; daughter, Tanya Banks, East Point, Georgia; son, Anwar Banks, Ellenwood, Georgia; the two loves of her life, her grandchildren, Aliyah Alexandria Singh and Ali Jamaal Banks; sister, Tommie Sue Fuller (Johnny); brothers, Clinton Hosely and Louis Hosely; and a host of very loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
