OBITUARY
"Death is the golden key thn.t opens the palace ofetemlty."
Evening comes in the life of evecy human being, then after the
evening, night falls. They that love beyond the world cannot be
separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies, nor can spirits
ever be divided that love and live In the same divine principle. Death
is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas. They live in one
another still.
Charles Douglas Appling, age 79, died Thursday, September
7, 1995 at the Medical Center of Macon, Georgia.
The son of Peter George Appling and Nettle Pritchett Appling
was born January 17, 1916 in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Mr. Appling was educated in the Jackson County School
System. He attended the Georgia Baptist College and later served in
the United States Army in World War II. He was a member of the King
Solomon's Lodge #42 and Eastside Coope.rative Christian Savings
Club. He retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base after many years
of service.
Charles grew up in the church and believed that with GOD
as the head of your life, you could not go wrong. Charles was a
dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Baptlst Church where he served in
many capacities and for many years was the Vice Chairman of the
Deacon Board. He worked faithfully in the church community
helping others in need.
Known affectionately as ",C.D.," he was united in Holy
matrimony to Daisy Pearl Irvin on August 16, 1941 and to this union
three children were born.
C. D. is survived by his devoted wife; three children, Nettle
[Alphonso) Smith, Richard (Jeannie) Appling, and Fannie (Larry)
Jackson, all of Macon, Georgia; a devoted brother, Wanm (Catherine)
Appling of Macon, Georgia; two sisters, Nettle Slaughter of Cleveland,
Ohio and Gladys (William) Turner of Warner Robins, Georgia;
godson, James Wimes of Chicago, IL; five brothers-In law, Herman
(Mary) Irvin of Macon, Georgia, John Irvin, Early Burch, Shelton
Irvin of Detroit, Michigan, and Leva Irvin of Dublin, Georgia ; one
sister-in-law, Mattie (Calloway) Boddie of Detroit, Michigan; devoted:
grandchild, I.allta Appling; cousins, David (Lynette) Chapman; and
daughter-in-law, Dorothy L. Appling of Macon, Georgia; nine
grandchildren, Tania (Kenny) Whisby, Marcus Smith, Wanzina
Jackson, Jada Jackson, Marnise Smith, Larry "Doug" Jackson,
Crystal Chapman, and Betsy Appling; and a host of relatives and
friends.
