Carol n y, onne Stembridge was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday~ July 3, 1951, the second child born in a family of eleven. She would grow up not only surrounded by her siblings but also under the watchful care of her grandparents, Robert (Butch) and Leola Calloway who lived right next door. This also allowed her the opportunit) to be in the midst of her many cousins and develop close relationships with d1em. It was her grandmother, Leola, who taught her d1e power of prayer and helped her grow the love she had for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She found it a joyous pleasure, praising, serving and sharing d1e word of God each day of her life.
Carolyn began her education at R.L. Cousins in Douglasville, GA and attended there until she transferred to J.E. Brown High School in Atlanta, where she graduated in 1969. While in high school Carolyn was very active; she pla}ed d1e French horn, ran track and wcts the captain of the girls' varsity basketball team. After high school, she went on to attend Albany State University in Albany, GA and later Georgia State University.
\~1lile attending Albany State Carolyn met and later married \Villie "Chuck, Anthony. To this union Erik Gerard And1ony was born. In her last position with the State of Georgia Departn.1ent of Revenue, she w-as the floor supervisor for over 10 years.
Carolyn never met a stranger! She had a special gift when it came to dealing with people. Even as a child, she was a born leader! Ald1ough she was not shy when it catne to speaking her mind, she did it with love, humor and diplon1acy, never wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. She was loved by everyone who knew her. In the family, she was known for opening her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, and would often ay, ''God did not give me this big house for me not to share it". Carolyn loved being outside and one with nature. She would spend hours in her yard cutting grass and tending to her flowers. In her }ounger years, she was an avid tennis player, playing on tennis courts all around the city. She also loved to play cards, travel and go to plays; but most of all she dearly loved spending time with her family and taking care of her mother Margaree Polk.
