Nobody Knows It But Me
There's a place that I travel, When I want to roam
And nobody knows it but me.
The roads don't go there, And the signs stay home And nobody knows it but me.
It's far, far away and way, way afar, It's over the moon and the sea, And wherever you are going, That's wherever you are And nobody knows it but me.
- Patrick O'Leary
August 9, 1977- July 7, 2004
"I'M FREE"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laidfor me. I took his hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that place at the close ofday. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembering joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I 've savored much, good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.
Lewis :Anderson, II
When health is absent Wisdom cannot reveal itself, Art cannot become manifest,
Strength cannot fight, Wealth becomes useless and Intelligence cannot be applied
Herophilus, 325 B.C. Physician to Alexander the Great
If only Herophilus had known Lewis Anderson, II. The wisdom he revealed allowed him to graduate from his beloved Morris Brown College in 2001, complete all of the course work and nearly a thesis toward a Masters degree, at Clark Atlanta University and select a school- Emory University - to begin work on his Doctorate degree.
In April 2004, Lewis became ill, entered the hospital and never came home again. Art cannot become manifest when health is absent? Lewis had such love for and command of the written word and the English language. Kate L. Turabian, Roget, C. Vann Woodward, were his guides. Keats, Shakespear, DuBois and John Hope Franklin, mentors and emulators.
Lewis completed the Atlanta History Center National Museum Fellows Program in August 2001 and was congratulated by Dr. C. Myrick Harris of the Africana Studies and Social Sciences Department of Morris Brown College for becoming the first Morris Brown College Atlanta History Center Fellow. In the spring of 2000, Lewis entered a contest and submitted a research paper entitled: "Major Theoretical Perspectives of Anna Julia Cooper and Alexander Crummell: A Comparative Historical Analysis." He won first prize- a trip to Washington, D.C., a chance to
meet the great historians and professors of our times, a cash award, the opportunity to present the paper on Capitol Hill, and his first chance to be published nationally in The Journal of Negro History founded by Carter G. Woodson in 1916.
Strength cannot fight? Lewis was born with a debilitating genetic disorder- Sickle Cell Anemia - that gradually robs one of the will to exist and life itself. But as a believer in God, baptized at birth and confirmed at Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, he was determined to become and serve as Altar Boy as soon as he became of age. He graduated from Saint Paul of the Cross and Saint Anthony's Catholic Elementary Schools and Benjamin E. Mays High School. The Sickle Cell Demon never met a fighter like Lewis.
Wealth becomes useless? He used all of the wealth around him, whether human or physical. The Registrar at Morris Brown College, Miss Lucille Williams, opened doors that allowed Lewis to propel himself through academia with nuclear speed and fervor. He found professors like Dr. Mario Beatty, Dr. R. Leonard and others and at Atlanta Universrity Center, Dr. Valetia Watkins, Dr. V. Crawford and others. He found mentors like his father, Lewis, grandfather, Leonard, grandmother, Catherine, Emory dialysis assistant, Richard, Judge George Geiger and wife, Ann.
Lewis enjoyed his wealth of knowledge and its benefits. He delighted in H. W. Janson's History of Art- Caravaggio and Impressionism his favorites. He enjoyed music, especially rap, classical , Johnny Cash and AI Green. Lewis had a great passion for the stock market- The Dow 30 his mainstay, Enron and Worldcom, his folly.
Intelligence cannot be applied. What do you think? If only Herophilus had met Lewis Anderson, II. On July 7, 2004 at 3:25a.m. in an intensive care unit at Emory Hospital, he gave up the fight and went with his savior. So death be not proud!

Memories
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. " ''For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
II Timothy 4: 7
