Lenora Shines Anderson was born February 26, 1931, the eldest child of the late the late Willie S. Shines and the late Gertrude King Shines. Lenora received her early education at Bush Mountain Elementary School. She was a 1949 Mid-Term graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. After being in the work force for several years, she decided to join her sister, Barbara in 1957 and enrolled in Blayton School of Accounting where she received her diploma in Secretary of Science.
Lenora joined West Oakland Baptist at an early age. She served as Church Clerk and Assistant Church Clerk. She later joined her husband, the late Harry Anderson at Trinity Presbyterian Church. She remained at Trinity several years after Harry passed; but her desire to return to the family home church was strong. She rejoined West Oakland Missionary Baptist on September 20, 1993. Upon her return, she became active in the Singles Ministry, the Caregivers Ministry and became a Church Mother. She was also Woman of the year.
Lenora worked at Reginstine's Department Store as a cashier in the shoe department; a cashier at Afro-Insurance Company and during the beginning of integration, she became the first back cashier on the front counter at The Atlanta Journal and Constitution. After several years there she left to work in Revenue Accounting for Delta Air Lines. While at Delta, she was able to enjoy and extend her travels that was started by her parents. Lenora traveled in the United States as well as abroad; having visited five of the seven continents.
After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, she peacefully joined her parents in heaven on August 14,2012.
The life and memory of Lenora "LeLe" will be cherish by: her sisters, Barbara Shines Banks, and Gertrude Shines Arnold (Charles); brother, Willie M. Shines; her loving children, Linda Anderson, Abigail Anderson, and Walter Grogan, Sr. (Cora); her dear grandchildren, Fransoir Anderson, John T. Snead, Jr., Najah Gordon and Walter Grogan, Jr.; loving great grandchildren, Derrick B. Murchison, Jr., (Angel), Antione Anderson and Brianna Austin; loving great-great grandchildren, Layah and Derrick Murchison III; devoted nieces and nephew, Cheryl Shines Catron, Marchell Shines, Stacie Jenay Arnold and Bertrum Boddie, Sr., (Teresa); three great-nieces, Brittany Catron, Brechae' Catron and Jessike Reaves; two great nephews, Jessie L. Reaves III and Jonathan Reaves; godson, Scotty Barnhart; playdaughter, Portia Chandler; two aunts; and a host of relatives and friend.

God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, "come to me." You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best And when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back To suffer that again.

Letting Go
The Angels gathered near your bed, So very close to you.
For they knew the pain and suffering that you were going through.
I thought about so many things, as I held tightly to your hand. Oh, how I wished that you were strong and happy once again.
But your eyes were looking homeward, to that place beyond the sky.
Where Jesus held His outstretched arms, it was time to say goodbye.
I struggled with my selfish thoughts, for I wanted you to stay.
So we could walk and talk again, like we did- just yesterday. But Jesus knew the answer, and I knew He loved you so.
So I gave you life's greatest gift, the gift of letting go.
