Mrs. Ruby AllenwasbornApril15,1926inJacksonville,Florida to the late Mrs. Ada Hammonds and John Hammonds.
She attended the Atlanta Public School System. Afterwards, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she later married Mr. Charlie Allen.
She departed this life on AprilS, 2015 Easter Sunday morning.
Mrs. Ruby retired in 1990 from manufacturing in Philadelphia. She was a faithful member ofMount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board for many years.
In 2006, she moved back to Atlanta, Georgia after the death of her husband and became a member of New Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board.
Ruby loved shopping, traveling, meeting people and going to the Adamsville Recreation Center.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline L. James; sister, Mrs. Myrtis (Sister) Hammonds; goddaughters, Miss Demetria Talley and Ms. Bernadett Smith; niece, Mrs. JoAnne Hammonds; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
