On April 5, 1905 was a day of rejoicing in the home of Howard and Earlie Booker for a daughter, Ellen Irene Booker was born in Bibb County, Lizella, Georgia. She was the second of nine children .
Ellen attended school in Macon, Georgia. She moved to Atlanta where she met and married Vance Allen, and to this union, two daughters were born, Earlie Eloise and Frances A ll en.
" Mama " or " G rand mama ", as she was affectionately ca ll ed, w as a sweet , giv i ng and loving person. She never met a stra nger and w as loved by everyone.
On Sunday morning, February 21, 1993, she w as called to her final rest ing pl ace after a long ill ness.
She leaves to ch eris h her loving me mory, two daug hters, Earlie A llen Smith and Frances Allen Brooks; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Julia Booker Hall, New Castle, Delaware, and Mrs. Mary Booker Kennedy, Wilmington, Delaware; one brother, Mr. Curtis Booker, Detroit, Michigan; two sisters-inlaw, Mrs. Zora Booker, New Castle, Delaware, and Grace Booker, Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Ellen Regina McFarland, Alisha J. Brooks, Terence L. Brooks, Edward D. Brooks and Mr. and Mrs. Terrell (Tawanna) Wicker; greatgrandchildren, Anthony, Sr., Eric, Latwanda, Contressa, Ouianna and Jewel; great-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jr. and five others; godchildren, Marion Jackson, Emma Lois Jackson and Shena Webb; nephews, Reverend William Loc kett and family, Mr. AI Lockett, Mr. Edward Lockett, and Mr. and Mrs. James (Jimmy) Booker; cousins, Mrs. Holly Booker and family, Pastor and Mrs. Edwin Humphrey, Uniondale, New York, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Davis, Mr. and Mrs. John Turner, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Childers and family; special friends, Eva Webb, Reverend and Mrs. St. John Clark, and the Macedonia Baptist Church fam il y, the laft Street Community and a host of ot her fami ly members and fr iends.
