This collection contains the conference journals, or annual minutes, of two Methodist denominations in Georgia: the Methodist Episcopal Church, South; and the Methodist Protestant Church. Both of these denominations broke away or split from the Methodist Episcopal Church during the nineteenth century. The journals record the yearly activities of these conferences as well as the reports and resolutions passed at the annual meetings. The journals also provide information on ministerial assignments and short biographies on deceased ministers. In 1939, the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and the Methodist Protestant Church reunified with the Methodist Episcopal Church to form the Methodist Church (U.S.).
