Description
The Peace Officers Association of Georgia (POAG) is the oldest and largest organization of “peace officers” in Georgia. Membership includes local, state and federal officers of all ranks and duties. There is evidence to suggest the formation of POAG began as early as 1900, though heavy documentation of the Association does not begin until 1950. Formal recognition of the organization by the State of Georgia was not until 1953, when the official name “The Peace Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc.” was adopted. The collection contains a variety of materials documenting the organization’s activities from 1949-2018., For more information about this collection see the Peace Officers Association of Georgia Collection Finding Aid
