Description
This Catholic liturgical codex, or bound manuscript, is believed to be Spanish in origin and likely hand-lettered by a monk around 1580. The codex was moved to an English monastery where it remained until the reign of King Henry VIII. When Henry VIII dissolved the Catholic Church in England he distributed the property of the Church to his supporters. The codex was purchased by a private collector with roots in coastal Georgia and later donated to the Brunswick-Glynn County Library.
