The photographic prints in this series document a variety of methods used by farmers and soil conservation scientists and engineers to prevent soil erosion.
Taken throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico, the photographic prints show conservation practices, such as, irrigation and drainage systems, windbreaks, range land reseeding, woodland harvesting, brush clearing, contour farming and terrace construction, suburban land use, and mining reclamation. There are also historic photographs showing land conditions prior to development or range and agriculture use, photographic prints showing examples of soil erosion and sedimentation problems, and photographs documenting conservation educational programs.
