Description
The Archives for Research on Women documents the experiences of women and men participating in women-centered activist and advocacy activities in Georgia and the Southeast throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. It also documents the experiences of women at Georgia State University. Collections include the personal and professional papers of individual activists as well as the records of activist organizations, and the personal and professional papers of GSU administrators and faculty, as well the records of its Women’s Studies Institute, and women-centered committees and organizations. The Digital Collection includes documentation from the following collections; in some cases only selected items from the collection were digitized, in others, the entire collection.
Activist Women Oral History Project documents a wide array of topics related to women in Atlanta, Georgia, and the South.
Karuna Counseling Oral History Project documents the founding and history of one of the nation’s oldest feminist counseling centers.
Samenia Wilson Limes Oral History Project includes interviews with Kelly Limes-Taylor Henderson’s family members regarding the family matriarch, Samenia Wilson.
Nancy N. Boothe Papers document the United Nation’s Fourth Conference of Women in Beijing, and activities at Atlanta’s Feminist Women’s Health Center.
Committee on Women, Population and the Environment Depo Diaries Records include materials about the Depo Diaries national story-telling project, 1999-2008.
Planned Parenthood Southeast photographs and scrapbooks document the organization’s activities and issues related to women’s health since the mid-1960s.
Planned Parenthood of Mississippi and Alabama scrapbooks document the organization’s activities and issues related to women’s health since the 1930s.
Pro-Life Newsletter Collection, donated by the Archdiocese of Atlanta, brings together many regional and national pro-choice publications.
Feminist Postcard Collection is comprised of one hundred and twenty-three picture postcards and greeting cards, most of which represent feminist women and feminist activities.
Power of Women Clothesline Project Collection consists of 80 t-shirts and two quilts that were displayed on Georgia State University’s campus for the Power of Women’s 3rd Annual Clothesline Project, in 2002.
Women’s Printed Collection includes selected items from the Women’s Pamphlet Collection - an artificial collection of published and unpublished materials by or about women, and the Women’s Periodical Collection, which includes serial publications by or about women.
