The author of this book was the Rev. Dr. Frank E. Jenkins, a prominent Congregational minister of his time. Dr. Jenkins was also president of the College from 1910-1930. This book is a very important history of Congregationalism in the southeastern United States from the 1870s through its publication in 1908., The chapter on Piedmont College was written by Henry C. Newell, the College's president at that time. The chapter is a very important source for the early history of the College.
