Description
The Oglethorpe archives had a wealth of beautiful images added to its collection by Edmund Bator (class of '53) and Martha Mayson Bator ('51). During his time at Oglethorpe, Edmund worked as a photographer for the Yamacraw yearbook, and many of the images he donated to the archives appear in the yearbooks. The images offer a rare glimpse into life during the vibrant years of the early 1950s at Oglethorpe. Activities documented include basketball, the Black and White Ball, the Boar's Head Ceremony, buildings, campus scenes, the Capping Ceremony, cheerleaders, the children's Christmas Party, the Christmas Formal, choir performances, dormitory scenes, graduation, the Sadies Hawkins Dance, intramural sports, the Lord and Lady Oglethorpe Ball, the bibrary, the Masquerade Ball, a modern dancing class, student scenes, and Philip Weltner.
