- Dr. Jere M. Pound, Second President, 1933-1935. Pound, an old friend of Powell's assumed the presidency in July of 1933. His background was education and teacher training, from school principal to director of GSCW in Milledgeville to president of Georgia's State Normal College in Athens. His health only allowed him to work for one year, and he left on sick leave in 1934. He died in February of 1935.
