- Description:
- Carved stool created by the Dogon people of Mali.
Stools like this one are objects of everyday use among the Dogon people. This object represents a distinct style in which the seat of the stool is supported by carved figures representing Nommo, or twin ancestral spirits. Though most likely made for the art market, its proportions and quality of carving make this stool a good example of the Dogon aesthetic.
