- Description:
- Sculpture by Pierrot Barra.
Pierrot Barra was a visionary folk artist who worked out of a booth in the Iron Market in Port-au-Prince, Haiti alongside his wife, Marie Cassaise. Barra assembled three-dimensional sculptures from old toys, fabric, glass, and a host of discarded items. Most of the assembling was done using straight pins and glue. An authentic Barra work will almost always "bite" you if you are careless of the pins. Barra's works are depictions of various Vodou spirits.
