- Michael J. Coles, pictured in 2006, is the founder of the American Cookie Company. In 2001 he was named to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The Michael J. Coles School of Business at Kennesaw State University is named in his honor.

Coles, an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Coles founded the Great American Cookie Company in 1977 and grew it into a successful national retail chain before selling it in 1998. In 2001 he was appointed by Governor Roy Barnes to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Coles was named chief executive officer (CEO) of the Atlanta-based Caribou Coffee Company in 2003. The Michael J.
