- Benny Andrews, a native of Plainview, began experimenting with collage as a student at the Art Institute of Chicago during the 1950s. His 1994 work Preacher, oil and collage on canvas (48 x 28 inches), is housed at the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta.
Image of the 1994 work Preacher (oil and collage on canvas, 48 x 28 in.) by Georgia artist Benny Andrews. The work depicts an African American preacher standing next to a thin wooden chair. His head is thrown back and his left arm is raised. His index fingers are extended.
Andrews began experimenting with collage as a student at the Art Institute of Chicago during the 1950s. The original is housed at the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, Georgia. - Metadata URL:
