Image of a colored engraving illustrating a scene from the massacre at Fort Mims, Alabama, August 30, 1813 in the opening of battle of the Creek Indian War. The work depicts a group of Creek Indians breaking through the wooden walls of Fort Mims and attacking the white settlers within. The United States troops wear blue and gold uniforms. Several white settlers lie dead on the ground, and others appear to be pleading for mercy. Two Creeks climb a ladder to the upper level of a fort building in the background. - Metadata URL:
