- Description:
- The Atlanta terminal station. Railroads expanded in Atlanta during the 1840s, making the city a commerce and transportation hub.
Postcard view of Atlanta Terminal Station, c. 1949. This structure was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by P. Thornton Marye. Completed in 1905, the station was renovated and expanded in 1947. This large structure features towers rising from each side of the main building and smaller domed towers on the outsides of these. Arched entryways line the bottom floor of the building. Horse-drawn carriages drive toward the terminal station. Groups of men stand outside the structure. - Metadata URL:
