- William O. Golding's St. Yacht Ramona (crayon and pencil on paper, 8 3/4 " x 11 3/4") depicts ships in American waters and features a lighthouse and flags, both recurring images in the artist's work.
Image of Savannah, Georgia artist William O. Golding's work St. Yacht Ramona (crayon and pencil on paper, 8 3/4 x 11 3/4 in.). This work depicts ships in American waters and features a lighthouse and flags, both recurring images in the artist's work. A stylized sun rises behind the ships, and the sky is full of seagulls.
Golding chronicled his travels through a series of maritime drawings that he created near the end of his life while a patient at the U.S. Marine Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Between 1932 and 1939 he executed around sixty drawings, created from his memories of the ships he sailed and the ports of call he visited around the globe. - Metadata URL:
