- Encyclopedia article about Georgia Perimeter College (GPC). Originally founded as DeKalb College, Georgia Permiter College has the third-largest headcount enrollment (approximately 22,000 credit and noncredit students in 2003) of higher education institutions in the state. GPC, one of thirty-four institutions of the University System of Georgia, is the state's largest two-year college. It is a regional, nonresidential, multicampus institution with a curriculum specializing in liberal arts and sciences as well as professional preparation. GPC has four campus locations and two sites near Interstate 285, the perimeter beltway surrounding metropolitan Atlanta.
